[04:14]<+Craig> Helllooooo world
[04:14]<@BC_Programming> wb
[04:14]<+Craig> Thanks, my hiatus was very sporatic.
[04:14]<+Craig> :P
[04:14]<+Craig> How are you doing?
[04:14]<+Craig> WOW, my SD card reads at 92MBps thats not bad
[04:14]<+Craig> OooooOOooh just 12 for random small writes
[04:15]<+Craig> Sorry reads
[04:15]<@BC_Programming> same as before heh
[04:15]<+Craig> Sounds about average,
[04:15]<+Craig> How is the programming biz these days?
[04:15]<+Craig> How is work going?
[04:15]<+Craig> Been promoted to owner yet?
[04:16]<@BC_Programming> I'm making a flat $20/hr, can't remember if I mentioned that, I don't even think I noticed when I got the raise
[04:16]<+Craig> Thats not too bad
[04:16]<+Craig> Way better than before you had the job. :) :P
[04:17]<@BC_Programming> yeah that 0$/hr didn't work out so well
[04:17]<+Craig> :P hahahaha
[04:18]<+Craig> What have you been up to recenetly? I haven't been on IRC in ages, my third monitor which was dedicated to IRC went down so I couldn't conveniently have it open,
[04:18]<+Craig> so I am just keeping it open on the right monitor rather than the left.
[04:18]<@BC_Programming> I tried to replace some failing caps on my Pentium 4 motherboard, That didn't go so well, turns out my soldering iron sucks and can't melt the solder properly
[04:19]<+Craig> Yeah I had the same problem, I need a pencil iron
[04:19]<+Craig> mine goes up to 900W, but it won't melt the soldier because it can't touch it directly. :S
[04:19]<@BC_Programming> No big loss since it is a boring prefab board, so I got a cheap Socket 478 board off eBay
[04:19]<+Craig> :P Nice
[04:20]<@BC_Programming> includes a much newer/faster P4, mine was the slowest first gen Willamette
[04:20]<+Craig> Nice,
[04:20]<+Craig> What are you using the cycles for?
[04:21]<@BC_Programming> I'm not planning on any specific use
[04:21]<@BC_Programming> really I just want something to put my only remaining AGP graphics card in
[04:22]<@BC_Programming> And fiddling with/configuring a system and seeing what it can do is rather fun as well
[04:22]<+Craig> Ahahahahhaha I see, so you're bored. :P
[04:23]<@BC_Programming> I tried to put a CompactFlash laptop adapter in my thinkpad T41 but it doesn't work very well, can't create a pagefile and installers complain about missing discs, bah
[04:24]<+Craig> Into?
[04:24]<+Craig> As in replaced a drive? Or just on USB?
[04:24]<@BC_Programming> Replacing the HDD
[04:24]<+Craig> Ahhhh,
[04:24]<+Craig> I wonder if the reader was lost due to drivers, or an issue with the power from the pata cable?
[04:26]<@BC_Programming> It goes directly into the laptop as a harddrive, and has two slots for CompactFlash. I was able to Install Windows XP without issue, it just wouldn't create a pagefile and MSI installers asked for a disc, which was weird
[04:26]<@BC_Programming> it was much faster according to crystalDiskMark
[04:26]<+Craig> Ooh thats interesting,
[04:26]<+Craig> guess it makes sense if its running the flash, since its better than the 133Mbps of pata
[04:27]<@BC_Programming> it is still using 44-pin PATA, it's just an adapter
[04:27]<+Craig> Ahhhh
[04:27]<+Craig> So it probably maxed out the cable then, most compactflash can run pretty fast now a days
[04:27]<@BC_Programming> the CF card itself is faster than the HDD, which isn't a surprise either given the HDD itself is over 10 years old
[04:28]<+Craig> True
[04:28]<@BC_Programming> I was thinking of collecting a thinkpad for each Major Windows OS lol
[04:29]<+Craig> Its nice when you have harddrives that live longer than the computers :P
[04:29]<+Craig> Hahahaha that would be a nice, could die any day, collection
[04:30]<@BC_Programming> The Windows 3.1 Thinkpad I used to have only died due to the battery leaking inside I think, likely would have been fine if I had the presence of mind to remove that since it was useless anyway
[04:30]<@BC_Programming> unfortunately the 755CDV never shows up on eBay and when it does it is priced at something ridiculous
[04:30]<+Craig> hahahahahah
[04:30]<+Craig> Wow,
[04:32]<@BC_Programming> just looking at some sold listings a working 755c sold for $500, dang
[04:33]<+Craig> WOW
[04:33]<@BC_Programming> "For parts" ones seem to go for $40 is is what I'd expect for a working one
[04:35]<+Craig> True, except collectors >..:p
